Do I need to sign up?
No. You can start chatting as soon as the page loads. Without an account, your conversations are tied to your current browser through a cookie. A free account, with just an email address and a password, lets you find your history and your memory on any device, and anything you started without an account moves into it automatically.
Why is it free?
The site is funded by advertising, and the open model we use costs very little to run compared with the big commercial AI services. To keep it fast for everyone, there is a daily message limit, which is higher for people with an account.
What model powers 1avance?
An open-weight model from the Qwen family, released by Alibaba's Qwen team. "Open weights" means the full model is publicly available, so it can run on our own server or on specialist providers. To keep answers fast, it usually runs on providers through the OpenRouter service, with our own server as a backup. Our about page explains why we made that choice.
Can it look things up online?
Yes. When a question involves recent events, current prices or anything the model is unsure about, it runs a web search, reads the most relevant pages and lists its sources under the answer. Searches are sent from our server, so search engines never see your IP address.
Are my conversations used to train AI models?
No. We do not train any model on your messages. Conversations are stored so you can come back to them, and you can delete them individually or all at once whenever you like.
How does memory work?
When you share a lasting preference or fact about yourself, the assistant may save a short note about it, and a small notice tells you when that happens. You can review, add or delete these notes on the My account page.
Why did it recommend a website?
When it genuinely helps with your question, 1avance may point you to a site from the 1avance network, which is run by the same publisher. For example, it may suggest a map of drinking water fountains if you ask where to refill a bottle. These sites are always clearly presented as part of the network.
Why does a reply sometimes take a few seconds to start?
The model reads your message and the recent conversation before it writes. When it searches the web, it also has to read the results. A status message tells you what is happening, and the answer then appears word by word.
Is the information always accurate?
No AI is always right. 1avance can misread a question, mix up facts or rely on an outdated source. Check anything that matters, especially health, money and legal information, with an official source or a professional.
Where is my data stored?
Your conversations and account are stored on a server rented from OVHcloud in its Beauharnois data center in Canada. Our privacy policy lists exactly what is stored and for how long.
Does it work on phones?
Yes. The site adapts to phones and tablets, and works in any modern browser.
How do I delete everything?
On the My account page you can erase your memory, delete all conversations, or delete your account together with all your data. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.
